Content Starts Late Night Real Estate: The Sea Dell Motel

Published by

Some things become Very Famous, my sweethearts, and some things ARE Very Famous. Such is the case with 5000 Overseas Highway in Marathon, Florida, the home of the Sea Dell motel “in the heart of the Florida Keys”.

Marathon is spread across 13 islands and one hour to Key West, which one might imagine is a drive not quite of this earth. It’s also a relatively new city, incorporated in 1999. There’s a Turtle Hospital, a Dolphin Research Center—just down the street from the Sea Dell—the Florida Keys Aquarium, and the Seven Mile Bridge that connects the rest of the Keys to mainland America by a single road.

The 23 rooms of the Sea Dell Motel are gentle and tropical, and the court of the drive-in motel is one of the loveliest I’ve seen with lush palm trees and greenery, round concrete tables, and St. Augustine grass. Each room has sliding glass doors that open onto a picnic area. “Thirsty & thick bright white towels, brand new linens, local custom art in each room and a lovely chilled and heated pool are only a few of the features that bring the guest back,” the listing describes.

For $119 a night, your motel guests will also enjoy the essentials: “friendly, efficient staff” (according to most reviews), the fastest Wi-Fi in the Keys according to this site, and proximity to food and liquor (“Pay Less Before Key West!”) Across the street, you can make friends with the owners of the Cracked Conch Cafe, open 365 days a year, where owner Joe DeConda has ridden out his share of hurricanes.

For $3,339,000 and an attitude that says beachside hospitality, the Sea Dell can be yours! Check out the listing here.
