Content Starts Late Night Real Estate: Star Dollar Savers Twin Cinema in Wyoming

“ENOUGH,” you’ve yelled out out your streaky city window, kissing la vida urban goodbye! Maybe it was hearing Garth Brooks sing “Amazing Grace,” maybe it was simply weighing many, many culinary options versus just the right red-booth strip mall affair. Margaritas at the mall, after all these years. But! You still need your pockets of darkness, a reprieve from natural elements and empty stretches of road. Have we here at Very Famous’ in-house real estate agency, Indoor Pool Real Estate Agency, the business opportunity for you.

There are some beautiful, small movie theaters for sale right now — really beautiful, like Gardena Cinema which has a whole cool history — but this one at 699 Uinta Drive in Green River, Wyoming, stood out to us to sell tonight. It has a curiously plain exterior, no lavish neon extravaganzas like Regal or ornate Art Deco designs in the way old cinemas downtown do. This, we think, might give a refreshingly challenging canvas to work with. Against the Wyoming landscape, with its gorges and its world’s largest deposits of something called trona, and its river basin, this theater could perhaps have DayGlo pink stripes painted up and down the sides. Or maybe some murals of mermaids on either side of the doors?

It was built in 1975 and has two theaters, one with 199 seats and the other with 231. There is a concessions stand, office, and storage area. The LoopNet listing also tells us the roof was replaced in 2008 and new “forced” air heating was installed in 2014. Known as Star Dollar Savers Twin Cinema, it appears to have been pretty loved until its last Facebook post on March 17 that it would be closed “effective immediately.” We’ve always found Google reviewers to say it best:

Resident Bianca Jorgensen wrote: “I love catching a show [sic] our little hometown theater. I remember a time when this place closed and it just didn’t feel like home in Green River. I’m grateful for the theater and especially for Tuesday night’s ticket prices. Discounted tickets on Tuesdays makes it affordable for just about anyone to go to the movies.”

Someone else wrote about finding a gum wrapper at the bottom of their popcorn bucket after having found the popcorn to be “chewy.” That seems like an innocent mistake though! Another big pro of this property is that it’s the westernmost point of a Green River entertainment trifecta. Across the street is Clearview Bowling Center and its Fish Bowl (See? Mermaid murals, a festive aquatic atmosphere in the triangle!)  that sometimes has this guy DJ. Next door, there’s Get Real Coffee which looks, simply put, like it fucking rules. Its slogan is “You’re In For A Brewed Awakening” and there’s a dog growling painted on the door with a quote above saying “Someone Bring me my COFFEE!” Around the corner, there’s The Radio Network, a regional collection of family-owned radio stations in Sublette County, Wyoming.

But back to Star Dollar! The café/lobby area has the foundations of pizzazz with room for growth. Channel the owners of this independent theater in Hilton Head, South Carolina, and have two Chinese Crested dogs be the greeters. Or get a fish tank! Either way, Happy Inauguration Day, let’s get back to business baby!
