Content Starts Late Night Real Estate: Your Living Room Is a Pool in Corpus Christi!

Published by

“Welcome! Jump on in!!!” you will be SHRIEKING to your friends when they visit you at 3462 Santa Fe St. in Corpus Christi, Texas. In fact, you’ll have the front door open and will already be floating (face up!) in the pool when they arrive. Thank god some people in this world not only understand but pioneer the YOLO Mentality, and understand that life is a highway and you can ride it all night long!

The outside of this house is surprisingly austere for a home that has replaced its living room with a swimming pool. In a way, this makes sense. If too many people know what you’ve done, you’ll probably have unwanted visitors and brushes with the attractive nuisance doctrine. The rest of this 3-bedroom, 3-bath home is a blank slate to make your own.

Starting with the pool area, we suggest keeping the leafy greens and perhaps painting the brick accent wall a shade that matches the frequency of someone with an indoor pool. The front living area has windows to showcase your pool, and upon walking into the dining/kitchen areas, you’ll notice the softly nostalgic touch of a brick planter. With modern, all-white cabinets and skylights, the kitchen is as serene as the rest of the house.

The bathrooms and bedrooms are where some juicy verve could stand to be added. With the sort of rock-colored tile that goes with both everything and nothing accompanied by some questionable wood-paneling stain choices, these might be the areas to spend money updating. Moving along, the TV room is traditional without being too stodgy, with built-in shelves and a sloped ceiling. The backyard has a lovely courtyard where vines and tropical plants can run wild.

All in all, this is a home defined by comfortable eccentricity and a personality that’s up to you. It would be a lovely home for some folks with the desire to make this place very, very cool.

Corpus Christi, Texas is an unexpected treasure if you’re looking for an affordable beach town to call home—a town where you’ll be blissfully under the radar. While it’s been a minute since we’ve visited downtown, Corpus has a penchant for remaining pretty retro with that permanent beach-town fade. You’ll be living alongside Padre Island National Seashore aka the longest stretch of undeveloped barrier island in the world.

Unfortunately, Sunrise Mall, a Perfectly Old Dream Mall, has closed its doors, but see if the lobby of the Hotel Corpus Christi is open. Once you’re there, you’ll be close to Selena’s memorial and a boardwalk that feels like the Mediterranean. Some intriguing newness is also popping up with places like Produce, a gallery and studio that are headquarters to a DJ reinventing cumbia, and coffee shops like Eleanor’s (chic y minimal!) and Coffee Waves (Cafe Nervosa vibes!).

For $299,900, this exquisite coastal daydream can be yours! All photos courtesy of the listing here.
