Google Image Search of the Week: “pink Nokia cell phone”

“The Secret History of the Motorola Razr, the First Great Phone of the Millennium” by Mark Wilson for Fast Company. Here’s an excerpt about that satisfying “goodbye” snap:

They were particular about the materials used on the bump stops that padded the screen from the keyboard: Technically, a material like felt could have made this gesture silent — but what fun would it be to hang up on someone without an audible snap?

“We talked about it at the time, it was like a Zippo lighter kind of thing,” says Pierce. “You recognize the sound.”

“It’s all those little details that made people emotionally connect to that device,” adds Vargas.

“The Collected Mobile Cellular Devices of Paris Hilton (2003-2010)” by Thom Bettridge for Interview. Paris Hilton reviews the BlackBerry:

“I used to carry five BlackBerrys: one for business, one for friends, one with a Swiss number, one for prank calling, and one for people who I didn’t want to give my number to.”

“Razr-flavored Martini” by lilnickumz from glitter-graphics.com

Two non-cellphone things from the diary of Very Famous:

This week, we were reminded of this article: “An oral history of PM Entertainment, a low-budget high-octane American dream” written by Joe Yanick for former publication Hopes & Fears. Joe tells the story of the little-known, low-budget action auteurs of the ’90s.

“PM’s story is the rags to riches American dream narrative, only with a hell of a lot more guns and kickboxing. It’s also a story that, with the exception of piecemeal information strung across fan blogs, has gone untold.”

And, finally, this week on VF we published our first story of 2021, a chat with shock-pop musician Lexy LaVey. Read the interview here! And please look at her glam, glam photoshoot made ‘specially for Very Famous:
